Today is #GivingTuesday – a good time to reflect and think of the causes in our community that can use our support.
Here are a couple with physical locations in Acton:
- Heritage Acton runs the Acton Town Hall Centre. They always need funds to maintain the building.
- Links2Care provides many of the social services to residents in our town.
- The Acton Foodshare is our local food bank and relies on community food and cash donations.
There are also many churches in town that do good work, service clubs like Acton Rotary and the Optimist Club, sports teams like Acton Houseleague and Acton Villa. The Georgetown Hospital Foundation keeps our hospital running, CASHH (Cancer Assistance Services) is our local cancer society and the Townsend Smith Foundation is working to build a hospice in our community.
There are, of course, a hundred more to list, but this is a scratch on the surface for some of the organizations that can use our energy and funds to keep providing the services they do in our community. Let’s do what we can to support them going forward, on #GivingTuesday and all year round.
